Laine has been active in the Washington metro area’s real estate market for more than 25 years, as both a principal and broker. As a principal, she has been involved in the opportunistic acquisition, redevelopment, and marketing of multi-family properties, shopping centers, office buildings, and single family homes. Prior to founding Whitestone Property Group, she was a founding partner of JM Zell Partners, a commercial real estate consulting firm, which specialized at that time, in office leasing brokerage and was a Director at Rock Creek Property Group.

She earned two masters degrees at Washington University in St. Louis. She's very involved in the community, serving for 7 years on the Board of Advisors for Network for Teaching Entrepreneurship (NFTE), a global non-profit that teaches low income high school students how to create their own jobs. She’s also on the Board of Directors of DC Casineros, an internationally reknowned Cuban salsa dance company.

When she’s not in the office, Laine is likely helping students with their business plans, dancing, or photographing dancers.
